How can I prevent my glass tables from getting scratched?

They are Ashley tables and my brother said his tables got scratched from different things but I thought nothing could scratch glass but diamond??

Any suggestions??
Is there anything I can spray on it? Like a coating of some sort?

    The glass is somewhere around out of hardness level so mostly metal things will scratch the glass think glass is somewhere around out of hardness level so mostly metal things can definately scratch glass is somewhere around.
