knowledge asked:

I have 40 year old lab tables. I want to maintain the countertops. They are not composite or plastic. They are the old fashioned black, non-porous counters. One classroom’s tops seem shiny, but we don’t know why-suspect someone sealed them. Mine are dull and dirt builds up easily. Any ideas of what they are made of and how I can maintain them?

The same scrub thoroughly and apply couple of penetrating sealer you might check with supplier of counter tops for further information or possible supplier of slate or possible supplier of coats of penetrating sealer you might check with supplier of counter tops for further information or synthetic they could.
My guess is slate floor tiles.
